Examiner Tony Connaghan comments on a MEI initial airplane instructor practical test. His comment was, "I didn't learn anything" after applicant thoroughly reviewed items of Airworthiness required of an aircraft and the operational equipment needed for flight. Including even STC's and 337's and how to find items for creation of an AD list from the FAA's dynamic regulatory website. How to pull down the TCDS for an aircraft and confirm equipment it had been originally certified with. How to confirm an aircraft has an up-to-date equipment list as well. How important it is for DPE's and contract instructors and pilots to understand the responsibilities of determining aircraft airworthiness.
